How we work
How do we make our Goldfinch guitars?
Step 1: Design and spec a new line of guitars
Philip draws the shape of each guitar in his notebook, perfecting each line until it fits his vision. The specifications for each guitar are planned out in the design stage. Aspects such as wood type, scale, hardware, and unique sound are carefully chosen. For the Painted Lady, the body wood is linden, well balanced and not too heavy. The neck is thicker than normal, to fill out your hand and make it easier to grip. The scale is 24.75” length, but the bridge is set far back so the guitar is compact and good for traveling.
Step 2: Guitars are handmade at our factory in China
Goldfinch guitars are produced at our preferred factory in China. Each is uniquely handmade to our specifications, with minimal use of a computer numerical control "CNC" machine (on some guitars a CNC machine is used to carve out the pickup routes). We’ve been working with the same trusted Chinese factory and industry contacts for years. They make every Goldfinch exactly how we want it, and it helps us keep the costs low for the consumer.
Step 3: Guitars are shipped in bulk to our USA storage
We order about 30 of each guitar color variation at one time. They arrive in bulk packaging after a few weeks from the initial order. The guitars are kept in our storage facilities on both the east and west coast.
Step 4: Quality control and repackaging
Before we sell the guitars, we perform thorough quality control. Each guitar is unpacked and inspected. If there are any issues, the guitar is taken to a professional repair shop and set up to perfection. Once each guitar is in top condition, it’s repackaged and listed for sale on our website.
Step 5: We ship directly to you
When you purchase your guitar, we ship it out directly to you from our facilities in the USA. We stand by the quality of our guitars, and strive to provide the best customer service.
